Reviews Movie review : Haider is deeply stirring Direction: Vishal Bhardwaj Actors: Shahid Kapoor, Tabu, Kay Kay Menon, Irrfan Khan, Shraddha Kapoor Rating: 4/5. There is much in Haider that deserves a standing ovation. Let’s start with the courage of director Vishal Bhardwaj. Hamlet is one of Shakespeare’s most difficult and ambiguous texts. It’s also his longest— it takes over four hours to deliver. Hamlet in itself is a beast to be tamed. Vishal and his co-writer, the acclaimed Kashmiri journalist Basharat Peer, transplant the play to Kashmir. It plays out against a socio-political tragedy that has been wrought over six decades and that has a Rashomon-like quality to it — the heroes and villains switch places, depending on the narrator. The result is a film that is problematic and far too long, but also thrillingly ambitious and powerful. The action takes place in 1995. There is something rotten in paradise. Pura Kashmir quaid khana hai, a character remarks. Haider, played by Shahid Kapoor, returns home from Aligarh. Shahid Kapoor, dealing with one of Shakespeare’s most challenging heroes, does so with impressive sincerity. He manages the many shifts of mood skilfully but always appears like an actor performing a role gamely instead of an actor who has become the character: he's very good, just not as unaffected as the actors around him. An actor called Narendra Jha who plays a doctor is an absolute find, Lalit Parimoo is excellent, Shraddha Kapoor is very believable in the Ophelia part, two Salman Khan fans (Sumit Kaul and Rajat Bhagat) are a lot of fun, and it's good to see Kulbhushan Kharbanda get well-forged lines of dialogue. At the heart of the film stands Tabu. Her Ghazala is a heartbreaking character, all passion and preening and perpetually inappropriate relationships. What's good: With Haider, Vishal Bharwaj completes his trilogy of Macbeth, Othello and now Hamlet. While most people would agree that Maqbool remains at the top slot, Haider comes in at second place. Vishal scores where he does best -- storytelling. He overpowers you with the locations, his actors, the language, dialogues and the background score. This is a subject that could have ruffled many feathers, but that doesn't stop him from showing what was wrong with Kashmir, or exploring the sexual undercurrent between the mother and the son. Vishal along with co-writer Basharat Peer weaves the Hamlet saga into the tension in Kashmir in mid 90s, making it hard for you to imagine it in any other setting. Haider is a well-acted, well-written and beautifully directed movie with a top supporting cast. But it is Shahid and Tabu that stun you with the ease with which they handle the complexities and layers of their characters. What's not: While no one expects a Shakespeare plot to be snappy and quick paced, you will find yourself getting restless with the pace and the length. Twenty minutes too long? The Bismal song though wonderfully choreographed and performed by Shahid, is somewhat of a speed breaker as it comes at a point when you are keen to know what's ahead. The most dramatic moments in the film come way before the climax, leaving you feeling a tad let down as the credits roll. Haider begins as a great movie but ends as only a good one. PLEASE SEE THIS MOVIE. ITS AN HEART TOUCHING,SIZZLING PICTURE EVER SEEN.

Hrithk Roshan’s Bang Bang trailer has created quite an interest among the audience. Also starring Katrina Kaif, this film is directed by Siddharth Anand and has hit the screens in over 5000 screens world wide. Let’s now see how this action entertainer is. Story:- Omar Zafar (Danny Denzongpa), the most wanted criminal by the Interpol is jailed in London. One fine day, Omar manages to escapes from the high security jail. In order to teach everybody a lesson, he assigns Rajvir(Hrithik) to rob the world famous Kohinoor diamond which kept in London. Rajvir successfully robs the diamond, and when Omar Zafar sends his people to collects the diamond, Rajvir escapes from them with the help of Harleen(Katrina Kaif). Who is this Harleen ? Why does Rajvir denies giving back the diamond ? What is his connection with Omar ? For answers to all these questions, you need to watch the film on the big screen. Story Goes Like This… Hrithik Roshan ( Rajveer Nanda) is on a cat and mouse race with the villain, trying to protect the most valuable stone-the Kohinoor diamond. When he meets the innocent bank receptionist Harleen Sahni ( Katrina Kaif) she falls for his charm and charisma and is also fallen unwillingly into this cat and mouse game that he is playing. This encounter with Rajveer results in the on-rush of weilding guns, bullets flying, ditched planes, car chases, bombing raids and ends up creating a chaos. But as the chase begins Rajveer convinces Harleen that he's the good guy, can she really trust him. Will she trust him even after the bullets start flying? Will he succeed in protecting the diamond? Will they live happily ever after? forms the crux of the film. All these questions will be answered for you readers when you all watch it on big screen. Cinematography by Vikas Sivaraman and Sunil Patel is brilliant, editing is fine (one can see the use of jump cuts quite often which can’t really be helped as the story was so sans logic). And yet, the action sequences are incredibly brilliant. Coming to the performances, Hrithik is superb. Katrina’s performance in the film is just an extension of her work in her previous ventures. Veteran actor Danny Denzogpa is masterly and so is Javed Jaffrey. But the two indeed have very little screen time to show their worth. Music by Vishal-Shekhar is good but nothing beyond that. (read: songs became an instant hit soon after they were released). Overall, ‘Bang Bang’ is a complete let down. The film has nothing really to offer expect some breath-taking action sequences and a sizzling hot chemistry between Hrithik and Katrina. Watch the film only if you are a fan of either of the two actors!

Directed by the creative genius Krishna Vamsi, this film has Ram Charan and Kajal in lead roles. After a round of huge promotions, this family entertainer has hit the screens during the festive season today. Let’s see how it is. What is it about? Abhiram (Ram Charan) comes to his grandfather's place with the aim to reunite his father (Rehman) and grandfather (Prakash Raj). Abhiram wins the hearts of everyone in the family and solves few problems of theirs. But the biggest task to keep his promise given to his dad has to be fulfilled and that is not an easy task. Performances: Ram Charan: Ram Charan surprises one and all in this film. He is labeled as a one dimensional actor before this film. But he has proved his skills in the character of Abhiram. Krishna Vamsi has the knack of bringing the best out of his actors and that has proved yet again with this film. This is easily Charan's best performance till date. He looked very stylish and handsome too. Srikanth: Srikanth's role is brief, but he excelled in every frame that he is on the screen. His antics as mischievous rural guy are very good. His dialogues and wise cracks with Prakash Raj are a treat. Prakash Raj: Prakash Raj played a very important role. He is the backbone of this film. This is another feather in his cap. His chemistry with Charan is too good. A nice blend of sentiment and comedy apart, 'Govindudu Andarivadele' packs the punch by presenting a different Ram Charan. Krishna Vamsi shows yet again that a director with a knack for varied themes can always spring up surprises by coming back in form - that too with a bang. After a spate of flops, KV marshals his creative prowess with Paruchuri Brothers in tandem. His screenplay lives up to his own set standards, and goes beyond to unleash an actor Charan as against the star Charan. In effect, KV's creative molding reminds one of his experiments with Mahesh Babu (read 'Murari'). Though there are shades of two popular films, namely Seetharamayya Gari Manavaralu and Attarintiki Daredi, the Midas Touch of the director makes it a film that is more than 'Tatha gari intiki daredi'. If comedy dominates sentiment in the first half, it is a balanced treat in the second half, with the climax brewing sentiment and action to the best possible effect. As is his style, Vamsi unleashes romance between Charan and Kajal Agarwal, a romance that borders on the sensual and naughty. Yuvan Shankar Raja's music inspires novel picturization.
